La Primavera Pro Longboarding contest is held annually at Playa Domes or Maria's (location selected one week prior to event) in the beautiful west coast town of Rincón, Puerto Rico
Focusing on the timeless tradition of classic, single fin longboarding, offering a pro prize purse of $5,000 USD to men and women equally, with a first prize of $1,200.00
Friday March 20th at sunset will be the VIP and Surfers Welcome Event (dress to impress!) at a local private villa.
Surfing Competition and Festival will take place Saturday March 21st and Sunday March 22nd from 7am-5pm (subject to change).
Professional and amateur surfing competition setup includes: Two level, high-end scaffolding for certified judges and live scoring, 2-4 person priority system, stage for performing artists, professional sound with directional speakers, Competitors Lounge, VIP area, and a diverse and colorful array of vendors and artisans.
Unique to Puerto Rico 8 local shapers have shaped one-of-a-kind single and twin fin surfboards specifically for our Retro Shortboard divisions. There will be a drawing in each heat of the Retro Shortboard divisions to determine which board the surfer will ride.
Every year, the Surfrider Foundation provides a beach cleanup before and after the event to ensure we leave the beaches better than we found them.
In addition to the surf series, this year’s festival is in support of all things ocean and sea, raising collective awareness to respect and preserve these vast natural resources. There will be educational workshops, focusing on the restoration of underwater ecosystems, as well as viewing our human impact on the ocean and how we can make positive changes in contrast to the current destruction that is being inflicted by our race. We invite attendees to learn about our natural world, while bringing communities together with good food, healthy beverages and family friendly activities, including an oceanfront skate ramp, face-painting, arts & crafts, beachfront yoga sanctuary, slack lining, tie dye, pony rides, giant bubble maker, live music and more!
A prize purse of $5,000 will be distributed equally to men’s and women’s pro longboard finalists with first prizes of $1,200.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to event staff and each of the competitors, as well as goodie bags with event t-shirts and sponsored products. Surfing finalists will receive hand-carved and painted puerto rican wooden trophies from local artist, gift certificates of local businesses, as well as prizes.
Last year attendance was estimated at close to 3500 people over the two day festival weekend. The event received OUTSTANDING positive testimonials for the third year in a row from community members, visitors, international athletes, sponsors, vendors, artisans, musicians, volunteers and staff. We look forward to seeing you March 20-22nd
